Capella

cappella

Image Title: Capella

Copyright: Colm O'Dwyer

Location: Cork, Ireland

Image Description and Details: An image of the star Capella taken with ~100 or so short 15s exposures. Using the haze of crystals in the atmosphere from a rapid drop in temperature, the image was captured to highlight the star’s brilliance and glow compared to all surrounding, background and foreground stars. The Akira Fuji effect is seen here from a natural process of the stars brightness and the hazy atmosphere, for the 6th brightest star in the northern sky.

100 x 15 s (broadband, no filter).
Software: Processed in Astropixel Processor and PS CS5
Imaged from Bortle 7 suburban location in Cork
