Description and Details: The crescent of the sun grows narrower and narrower. The last rays shine through lunar valleys for a few seconds. Protuberances suddenly sparkle in brilliant red. The corona becomes visible - the sun’s outer atmosphere. An extremely thin, hot plasma that extends millions of kilometers into space along the sun’s magnetic field lines. For us a hundred seconds filled with fascination. Suddenly it’s over; a blinding beam of light dazzles and expands. And then the Sun is back - a narrow crescent appears and slowly grows larger. And we know that the 250-kilometer drive from our hotel on the rainy coast to León, Spain, was well worth it.

My sequence shows the corona as an HDR image taken in 1 EV increments from 1/1000 to 1/2 second. The sections to the left and right of the corona last only a few seconds—12 seconds on the left and 6 seconds on the right.
