Description and Details: This image captures the raw power of the geomagnetic storm that occurred on January 19, 2026. A vibrant ribbon of the Aurora Borealis stretched directly across the zenith, creating a natural "cathedral" effect framed by the silhouettes of winter trees.
Looking through the canopy in the lower-left corner, the Pleiades star cluster (M45) is clearly visible, adding a deep-space anchor to this atmospheric display. To preserve the intricate vertical structures (pillars) of the aurora, I utilized a very short 2-second exposure. The light-gathering power of the Sony 24mm f/1.4 GM allowed for an unusually low ISO 160, resulting in a crystal-clear, high-dynamic-range image that showcases the full potential of the 61-megapixel sensor.
