Description and Details: Barnard 228 is a large Dark Nebula in the southern constellation Lupus, a very dusty area in the sky, quite close to Scorpius / Rho Ophiuchi.
This is a deep three panel mosaic of the region - the images were taken during various nights between April 2026 and June 2026.
Barnard 228 is an active star forming region located roughly 600 light years away.
The bright, yellowish reflection nebula is PP 81. It stands for Parsamian Petrosian.
