Description and Details: Observable in "the Hunting Dogs" constellation, M106 is located at a distance of around 23 million light-years, and is the dominant galaxy in a small local group of galaxies (Canes II), some members of which can be seen in the image shown.
This spiral galaxy is roughly equivalent in size to our neighbor, the Andromeda galaxy, with a diameter of around 130,000 light-years (slightly larger than our own Milky Way).
