LDN 1228 Lrgb & HaLrgb
LDN 1228 (Lynds Dark Nebula 1228) is a complex and fascinating dark nebula located within the constellation Cepheus. This intricate system of interstellar dust and molecular gas is located approximately 600 light-years from Earth and is positioned in the immediate vicinity of the north celestial pole, just 11 degrees from Polaris.
This subject, chosen by our Itex team, has undergone a significant evolution. Initially, we chose the broadband LRGB composition, then, almost as a joke, we started recording it in HaLrgb during the waxing moon phases, until we ended up recording it for over 150 hours. The result was surprising, especially because if you search for this subject online, you'll only see broadband images. Enjoy the show.
These images you see are the result of my processing workflow!!!
Thanks as always to Optolong Astronomy Filter for the great work they did with their filters, which were kindly provided to our group for use in the dark skies of Texas.
