Description and Details: During a recent trip to Ladakh, I finally had the opportunity to test my Samyang 135mm lens on a deep-sky target. Although purchased specifically for astrophotography, it had previously only seen use as a wedding lens.
While in Padum, I planned a shot of the Rho Ophiuchi cloud complex setting behind a snow-capped peak. I quickly set up my star tracker and started the shooting. Compared to my previous attempt at f/5.6, shooting at f/1.8 highlighted just how critical a fast aperture is for pulling out faint details.
And more surprisingly, plate-solving and annotating the final image revealed at least seven distinct nebulae within this single field of view!
