Description and Details: "Sh2-224 is a faint supernova remnant located in the constellation Auriga. It is situated approximately 14,700 light-years from Earth, placing it within the Perseus Arm of the Milky Way galaxy.

The remnant exhibits an apparent size of about 60 arcminutes, which translates to a physical diameter of approximately 235 light-years . This expansive size suggests that Sh2-224 is an ancient remnant, with estimates placing its age between 13,000 and 24,000 years.

Morphologically, Sh2-224 displays a distorted, filamentary shell structure, shaped by the interaction of the supernova shockwave with the surrounding interstellar medium. Multi-wavelength observations, particularly in radio and optical bands, reveal complex shock structures and regions of ionized gas, highlighting dynamic processes such as gas heating, magnetic field compression, and particle acceleration."
