Sh2-231 to Sh2-235 form a region of Ha in the Perseus arm in the outer galaxy. This complex may be associated with an old (330 thousand years) supernova remnant. The estimated distance to Sh2-235 is 5,870 light years
This nebula is ionised by two giant stars. HD 37737 may be a runaway star.
