Description and Details: The Tarantula Nebula (30 Doradus) is one of the most intense star-forming regions in the Local Group, located about 160,000 light-years away in the Large Magellanic Cloud.

Across this immense stellar nursery, radiation and powerful stellar winds from massive young stars carve the surrounding gas into a complex network of luminous filaments, cavities and dark structures.

Near its heart lies R136, an extraordinarily dense young cluster containing some of the most massive stars known, whose energy helps sculpt and illuminate the surrounding nebula.

This image was captured from Santo André, São Paulo, Brazil, beneath the heavily light-polluted skies of the São Paulo metropolitan region.

Using a small 72 mm refractor, a cooled color camera and a dual-band narrowband filter, I collected five hours of integration to reveal the intricate structures of this remarkable stellar nursery.

Perhaps what fascinates me most is the contrast in scale: a small telescope beneath the lights of a major city recording photons that began their journey in another galaxy roughly 160,000 years ago.
