Description and Details: This is a long-period comet discovered by the SWAN instrument on board the SOHO spacecraft. These days it lies close to the Sun and is visible shortly after sunset, especially from the southern hemisphere. With a magnitude around 6, it can be observed with binoculars or a small telescope, but photography reveals its finest details: a vivid green coma and a long bluish ion tail, sculpted by the solar wind and interplanetary magnetic fields.
