Description and Details: Messier 83 – The Southern Pinwheel galaxy is a barred spiral galaxy located on the boarder of the constellations of Hydra and Centaurus. It is 15 million light-years from Earth and is approximately 50,000 light years in diameter, which makes it about half the size of our home galaxy, the Milky Way.
Data for this image were captured with a Takahashi TSA120 OTA and ZWO ASI2600 mono camera. Filters were LRGB and Ha. Total exposure times came to 24 hours and 3 minutes.
