Title: Earth’s Crescent at the Edge of Light

A softly illuminated crescent of Earth fades into deep black space, with a smooth atmospheric gradient visible along the curved limb.

Image Title: Transit across the solar disk

Copyright: Raffaello Lena

Date image was taken: January 17, 2026

Location: Rome Italy

Data Acquisition Method: Personal Telescope Setup

Description and Details: On January 17 2026 11:24 UT (12:24 local time) I imaged the transit across the solar disk of an object, which is unidentified to me. Perhaps it could be a weather ballon or similar. See the GIF animation which I have obtained from my SER video. The full transit is visible at link below https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzfuneOzRcYCTvCWMOSo58za06fBIWg4kEjlXBaxrw4Kc1_BuH-YndKLuLbTXa9fBFjdh16ZQ0HFmAxCabf9F3719rFMpRDHdlc1FIFZAZEBEsNGHo1aoTBvFzscS9b1UgzyBdvjRnmIo4nzqGD6poHIGeQ9v2hiuMC4fcbukn4mL8AhrYOdM1-8UMsBI/s1254/videocx.gif
It was imaged from Rome Italy using a TMB 13 cm refractor, as a survey of the Sun. It is large with round shape, similar to Planet transit (e.g Mercuty solar transit) but of course it is not a planet. A possible suggestion is the weather ballon.
