Description and Details: This image that I took shows two contrasting nebulae in the constellation Cepheus: the Iris Nebula (NGC 7023) on the left and the dark nebula LDN 1148 on the right. The Iris is a reflection nebula illuminated by the young star HD 200775, revealing complex structures of interstellar dust through scattered blue light. Meanwhile, LDN 1148 is a dense, cold molecular cloud an active site of low-mass star formation appearing dark due to its absorption of background starlight.
