Location: Mont-Saint-Michel Bay

Data Acquisition Method: Personal Telescope Setup

Description and Details: Approximately 1,400 light-years away, in the constellation of Cassiopeia, vast clouds of interstellar dust form a strange silhouette: that of a hand reaching toward the sky.

LDN 1355, together with LDN 1357 and LDN 1358, is a dark nebula. Its dust absorbs the light from stars lying behind it, appearing as a gigantic dark silhouette against the starry background.

Beside it, the bluish reflection nebula vdB 9, illuminated by the variable star SU Cassiopeiae, adds a striking touch of light to this cosmic landscape.
