LDN 673 in the Aquila Rift

Image Title: LDN 673 in the Aquila Rift

Copyright: Colm O'Dwyer

Date image was taken: June 19, 2024

Location: Cork, Ireland

Image Description and Details: With the short summer night and astronomical twilight, imaging time is limited. But there are bright and dense regions of the milky way that are chock full of golden suns. Some of these regions contain lots of dark dust and this is one very beautiful region.
In the constellation of Aquila, here is a region showing a dense starfield overlaid with interesting wisps and features of dark dust where hundreds of stars are to be born. It is part of the Aquila rift and about 600 lights away. Even in this widefield image, we see the Herbig-Haro object and (HH32) and RNO 109, a region with some nebulosity close to young stars.
