Image Description and Details: NGC 4725 Coma di Berenice constellation
NGC 4725 is a barred spiral galaxy in the constellation Coma Berenice. It is located 5 degrees south-west of the star γ Comae Berenices; it is a barred spiral galaxy, of considerable real size: it would be more than double the size of our Galaxy, and seems to even exceed the Andromeda Galaxy in size. To locate it in the sky, 11x80 binoculars are sufficient, in which it appears as a patch stretched in a NE-SW direction; a small telescope allows you to notice, at the extreme sides, two "bracket-like" formations, between which the very bright nucleus is located. Instruments opening beyond 200mm also allow you to see its external arms. The distance from the Milky Way is estimated at around 40 million light-years. Tele SW Newton 200/1000 PDS @960 TS reducer.
