NGC 2685 – The Helix Galaxy in a Dust-Laced Halo

Image Title: HELIX into deep

Copyright: Stefan Thrun

Date image was taken: May 09, 2025

Location: Germany

Data Acquisition Method: Personal Telescope Setup

Description and Details: Hello AAPOD2 Team...

Spring has made it possible to expose this rare galaxy for a long time to make the fine surrounding dust visible. I exposed this picture with my Celestron C8 out of the garden for about 30 hours. In addition, I used the Ha filter to make the small Ha spots visible.

Hope you like it... clear skies and stay well

Best regards from Germany
Stefan
