Date image was taken: February 01, 2025

Location: Saint Saturnin (France)

Data Acquisition Method: Personal Telescope Setup

Image Description and Details: OU4 is the most extended planetary nebula to date.

Located approximately 2,300 light years (ly) from Earth in Cepheus, it was discovered in June 2011 by Nicolas Outters.

This nebula can be observed through another nebula, Sh2-129, located about 1,300 ly. Known as the Giant Squid Nebula, it is a bipolar nebula that stretches a dizzying 50 light years. This represents more than one degree apparent on the sky, or twice the diameter of the full moon.

The image was started in October, the inclement weather only allowed me to image 30 hours without a moon in 4
months to bring out its very weak OIII signal.

Equipment Details: TSA120 with reducer (f5.3), asi2600mm with antlia filters
