Sh2-132 – Central Region of the Lion Nebula

A colorful deep-space image of the central region of the Lion Nebula (Sh2-132), with glowing filaments of ionized hydrogen, oxygen, and sulfur forming a complex web of gas and dust across the starry backdrop.

Data Acquisition Method: Personal Telescope Setup

Description and Details: h2-132 is a faint emission nebula in the border of Cepheus constellation approx. 11,400 light years away from our planet. Massive stars are responsible for ionizing the gas in this region. In particular, two Wolf-Rayet stars - WR152 & 153 (HD 211564 & 211853) are identified.
These stars are at least 20 times more massive than our Sun and they tend to be eruptive and possess extremely high solar winds.
One of the Wolf-Rayet star is easily visible bubble in the radio wave band, and it is identified as Shell B, probably originating from the stellar wind of the two massive stars.

Image was taken from Budapest and Tibolddaroc, Hungary over several nights with my telescope between 2023 June and 2024 August. Nearly ~67hrs total imaging time was used for the integration of the final image.
