Data Acquisition Method: Remote Observatory (Commercial)
Description and Details: Description:
Glow in the dense star-forming regions of the Sagitta/Cygnus complex, Sharpless 99 and Sharpless 100 are extremely faint HII regions surrounded by intricate dust structures and subtle ionized gas shells. Located thousands of light-years away along the plane of our Milky Way galaxy, these faint cosmic bubbles require exceptional exposure depth to reveal their delicate emission filaments and surrounding dark dust lanes.
Captured across multiple dark nights from A Veiga (Ourense, Spain), this deep nearly 52-hour integration combines broad-band RGB star color with narrow-band Hydrogen-alpha (Ha) and Oxygen III (OIII) data (HOO palette). The resulting image highlights the faint bluish OIII structures interwoven with the prominent red Ha glow while maintaining natural star colors and background dust detail.
