Image Description and Details: Abell 7 is a faint planetary nebula lying in the constellation of Lepus, which is roughly 1800 light years away from us. Abell 7 is estimated to be only 20,000 years old, but the central star, a fading white dwarf, is estimated to be some 10 billion years old. The nebula’s round spherical shape is about 8 light years in diameter and its complex details are best imaged using narrowband filters. Nearly 70 hrs of imaging time went into this target to draw out some of the fine details…
