Description and Details: IC 434, or the Horsehead Nebula in Ha-RGB
It is located in the famous constellation Orion at a distance of approximately 1,300–1,400 light-years.
It features areas of hydrogen-alpha emission as well as areas of dark nebulosity. The Flame Nebula can be seen in the lower left of the image, recognizable by its yellow color and flamboyant appearance.
It was discovered in 1888 by Williamina Fleming, an astronomer working at the Harvard Observatory.
