Description and Details: The Tarantula Nebula (also known as 30 Doradus or NGC 2070) measures over a thousand light-years across. On the outskirts of the Large Magellanic Cloud, approximately 180,000 light-years away, lies the large HII region of the Tarantula Nebula.
Its brightness is so great that if it were as close to Earth as the Orion Nebula (1,500 light-years), this nebula would cast visible shadows and occupy half the sky.
It is home to star clusters, supernova remnants and even a black hole.
Set up CDK 14 on Mathis Mi500/750 mount. ZWO Asi 6200 MM camera.
