Presenting the luminous expanse of NGC 6357, famously known as the Lobster Nebula. Located approximately 5,500 light-years away in the constellation Scorpius, this massive emission nebula is a dazzling stellar nursery where new stars are forming rapidly. The nebula's distinctive moniker comes from its overall shape, which some observers interpret as resembling a cosmic lobster. However, this nebula was also given the name War and Peace Nebula by the Midcourse Space Experiment scientists because of its appearance, which, in infrared images, the bright, western part resembles a dove, while the eastern part looks like a skull.
